A new music and story-based project is coming to St. Margaret’s in Braemar. Lead by highland fiddler and composer Adam Sutherland, ‘What a story a pair of boots can tell’ will capture stories around the theme of Mountain Rescue. Over the coming months, working in collaboration with Braemar Mountain Rescue, Adam will record interviews with the rescue team and will then lead workshops with musicians to interpret the material and create a new body of work. The final work will be integrated into a performance for the opening of the 2019 Braemar Mountain Festival.

This project offers a unique and exciting opportunity for traditional musicians at intermediate to advanced level to work with Adam Sutherland.

Do you:
• have a keen interest in Scottish traditional music and learning composition skills
• play traditional music instruments from intermediate to advanced level. There are limited spaces available for each instrument but can include fiddle, viola, cello, double bass, keyboard, guitar, whistle, flute, ukulele, accordion, banjo, mandolin or bouzouki
• are over 16 and living in the Upper Deeside Area
• are able to read music (preferable) or are skilled at learning by ear
• can provide their own transport
• are available on the following proposed dates for workshops, rehearsals and performance:
– 16th December
– 12/13th January
– 10th February
– 23/24th February
– 28th February (day time rehearsal and final performance in evening)
