Braemar Literary Festival 2023

29th September - 1st October

Established in 2022 in collaboration with HM the Queen Consort’s ‘Reading Room’ – a worldwide network of literary communities – we are delighted to announce the grand return of the Braemar Literary Festival for its second year.

Turn the page on your next big adventure and visit us in our storybook setting from 29th September – 1st October 2023, for a weekend celebrating the power and quiet beauty of the written and spoken word. Connecting bibliophiles of all ages with heartfelt readings from the authors who penned the words and a forum to engage in spirited discussion, we stand proudly as part of the new Scottish cultural scene.

We are honoured to reveal that Rick Stein CBE will lead us into the weekend’s festivities with a specially curated dinner on opening evening. A well-loved and highly respected chef, author and television personality, Rick has published over 25 cookery books throughout his career.

We will also be joined by David Walliams OBE. His laugh-out-loud words and fantastical plots have captured the hearts and imaginations of young readers everywhere, so gather your budding bookworms and inspire the authors of tomorrow – as ‘Gangsta Granny’ said, “all you can do in this life is follow your dreams”.

Sam Leith, the literary editor of The Spectator, and the author of several books will be returning as chair for a number of our weekend talks.

Full line-up and weekend itinerary is available here.
