The historic Braemar Gathering returns on Saturday 2nd September 2023, and we are so excited to welcome you to this spectacular event which has been taking place in Braemar, in its present form, since 1832.

The day starts outside The Invercauld Arms hotel, on the edge of Braemar, where the massed pipe bands gather. They play throughout the village, walking towards The Princess Royal and Duke of Fife Memorial Park signifying the start of the games at 9am.

Competitions include Tug o war, Solo piping, the Kilted Heavies (which include the Hammer Throw, Putting the Stone and Tossing the Caber), track events, Highland dancing and the famous Gathering Hill Race that sees runners climb 1200 feet up to the five cairns visible from the park.

Food & Drink on the day

Bacon rolls will be available from The Mews Pub (next door to The Invercauld Arms hotel) from 9am in the morning.

The Fife Arms bothy will be in the games park serving delicious drinks from the bar and food from the BBQ.
