Discover Artfarm’s New Boutique Hotel in Switzerland
In December 2025, Artfarm will open Chesa Marchetta, a new luxury hotel in Sils Maria, Switzerland, this boutique alpine retreat will bring together history, culture, and hospitality in the heart of the Engadin.
Sils Maria is celebrated as the cultural centre of the Engadin. Its dramatic mountain landscapes and luminous light have inspired generations of artists and thinkers, including Friedrich Nietzsche, Thomas Mann, Alberto Giacometti, Marc Chagall, and William Faulkner. Chesa Marchetta continues this tradition, offering guests the chance to experience the unique spirit of the Swiss Alps.
A Historic House Reimagined
Chesa Marchetta has been part of village life since 1947, when it was run by the Godly family as a restaurant and pensiun. Over the years, it welcomed guests including Gerhard Richter and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Today, after a sensitive four-year redevelopment by architect Luis Laplace, the building begins a new chapter as a 13-bedroom boutique hotel with a 46-cover alpine restaurant and an adjoining three-bedroom house available for private hire.
The restaurant will honour the Godly family’s pioneering use of seasonal ingredients while reimagining alpine cuisine for today. Head Chef Davide Degiovanni, formerly of 5 Hertford Street and Gordon Ramsay’s Union Street Café, will create menus that showcase the best of the Engadin and beyond. Open to both guests and visitors, it will be a destination in its own right.
The hotel will be led by General Manager Federica Bertolini, who also opened the Fife Arms. Under her guidance, guests can expect the same dedication to craft, culture, and community that has made the Fife Arms an international destination.
