Regular Event:
6th Mar 2025 -
9th Mar 2025
Braemar Mountain Festival is an annual community event which will be held from Thursday 6th to Sunday 9th March 2025, taking place in venues throughout the village.
During the day the jam-packed programme features an array of events including guided walks to explore nature and the landscape, various skill workshops from navigation to photography to cross country skiing, and a programme of talks from a fantastic group of speakers. The evening programme includes a family ceilidh with live music, a film night featuring The Best Of Kendal Mountain Festival Film, an inspirational speaker event as well as music and food.
We are delighted to be hosting a talk as part of the festival to celebrate International Women’s Day on Saturday 8th with author Merryn Glover. She will be discussing her book, The Hidden Fires: A Cairngorms Journey with Nan Shepherd which is a response to the iconic book, The Living Mountain. Nan Shepherd is much celebrated at the Fife Arms and throughout Scotland as her lyrical descriptions of her homeland and walking in the Cairngorms are a source of pride and inspiration to many. In an immersive event with readings and images, Merryn will tell the story of two women meeting in the Cairngorms across time. There will be the opportunity for an audience Q&A and book-signing with Merryn afterwards. To find out more information and book tickets please click HERE.
During the festival why not also join us in our Fog House which has been reimagined into a traditional Swiss Alpine fondue hut. Indulge in a warming fondue and dip freshly baked bread, wood roasted potatoes, crisp vegetables and succulent meats into a bubbling pot of melted goodness whilst recounting the highlights from your day at the festival.
