This Spring, we have been inspired by artist Vanessa Bell (born 30 May 1879), a key member of the Bloomsbury Group of artists whose work featured rich colours and decorative patterns. Her work blurred the lines between fine and applied art, influencing modern design and interior decoration. The work of the Bloomsbury Group inspired the décor in our Artist Studio Room at the Fife Arms, with their decorative spirit embodied in the painted walls, fabrics and furniture. You can also see cushions and lampshades designed by Vanessa Bell’s granddaughter, Cressida Bell, within the hotel.
The Fife Arms Family Room is stocked with creative resources for all ages, along with books, games and movies to entertain. All Art Room activities are free for Fife Arms guests and all materials are provided.
