IN CONVERSATION

Award-winning landscape architect and designer of the Fife Arms’ garden, Jinny Blom, discussed her book What Makes a Garden, which focused on both the creative act of designing landscapes and the impacts of time and culture on shaping a garden.

The great-granddaughter of an Impressionist painter and head of an international design studio, Jinny described her work as being part of a broader artistic landscape, stating, “Commissioning a landscape is no different to commissioning a work of art or a piece of music—it is a sensitive, erudite process, not a commodity.”

The event provided insight into the world of garden design and included a discussion of some of Jinny’s globally recognized projects.
