The Ursula Weekender returns to Braemar’s Village Hall and the historic Fife Arms hotel for a weekend celebrating contemporary culture, with all ticket proceeds supporting the Braemar Community Fund.
On Saturday, audiences will hear from Sir Don McCullin, acclaimed photographer, in conversation with Tim Marlow OBE, Director of the Design Museum, followed by Allison Berg, Executive Director of the A&L Foundation, Alexander Petalas, Founder of The Perimeter, and Aric Chen, Director of the Zaha Hadid Foundation, moderated by Victoria Siddall, Director of the National Portrait Gallery. Later in the day, Rashid Johnson, contemporary artist, pairs with Katherine Brinson, Senior Curator at the Guggenheim Museum, and Carly Eck, Burberry Archivist, speaks alongside Sarah Douglas, Global Advisor to Ursula magazine. The afternoon continues with Lorna Simpson, interdisciplinary artist, in conversation with Randy Kennedy, Editor-in-Chief of Ursula magazine, and the day concludes with a site-specific audio-visual performance by Oddur Roth and Davíð Þór Jónsson in Braemar Kirk.
On Sunday, the programme features designer Bella Freud alongside art historian Katy Hessel, followed by spoken word artist Julian Knxx with writer and curator Ekow Eshun, offering a final day of talks and performances. Together, these events promise a rich, immersive celebration of art, design, fashion, music, and storytelling in the heart of Braemar.
