Louise Bourgeois-Inspired Drawing & Sculpture Workshop with Naomi Mcintosh
11am – 12:30pm
Celebrate International Women’s Day at the Fife Arms with the Scotland-based interdisciplinary artist Naomi Mcintosh in a workshop inspired by Louise Bourgeois. Represented in the Fife Arms collection, Bourgeois was one of the most prolific and distinctive female artists of the twentieth century who is best known for her large-scale sculptures and instillation art.
‘Drawings are thought feathers,’ Bourgeois said, ‘ideas that I seize in mid-flight and put down on paper’. True to Bourgeois’ immediacy and mark-making, in this workshop you will explore spontaneous drawing and small sculptural making inspired by the artist. You will work intuitively throughout, letting gesture, material, and impulse guide both drawing and sculptural form. The workshop encourages experimentation, personal interpretation, and reflection, offering a space for quiet focus and shared discussion.
The workshop is suitable for anyone interested in drawing and sculpture, all materials will be provided.
