Design Your Own Tartan

Tartan designs are individual to clans, families or organisations, and are a key symbol of Scottish identity. If you would like to have a family tartan of your own, the Ghillie team can connect you with a highly experienced textile designer who will work with you to create your own personal design.

What To Expect

The team will always try to arrange an initial conversation with you either before your hotel stay, or during. If time doesn’t allow then this may also be a visit to the designers atelier, situated just outside of Edinburgh.

Timeframes vary depending on your decision making, however it can take up to three months for designs to be worked on, followed by up to four months for cloth production, and between one to four months for any items to be made from the cloth created.
