The Braemar Gathering 2022

The Braemar Gathering is back!

Held at The Princess Royal and Duke of Fife Memorial Park, on the first Saturday of September, the games draw in a fantastic crowd, from all corners of the world – it is the ultimate Highland experience.

Her Majesty The Queen is Patron of the Braemar Games, who often visits to watch the participants take part in traditional games, like toss the caber, tug of war, and Highland Dancing, whilst the sound of the bagpipes echos around the field.

This year will be particularly special, falling during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee year, which is being commemorated with a permanent Jubilee arch in the games park. President of the Braemar Royal Highland Society, David Geddes, said “ As well as being the longest reigning British monarch Her Majesty is also the longest serving Patron of the Braemar Royal Highland Society and since childhood, and over the past 70 years of her reign, she has been an avid supporter of the annual Braemar Gathering.
The idea of a Jubilee Arch in the games park was considered to be the best and most lasting way of recognising this commitment.” (
