Jubilee Celebrations 2022
This year Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will celebrate 70 years on the throne, a truly historic achievement making her the UK’s longest serving monarch. Across the country, a full programme of public events and celebrations will mark this momentous occasion and we’re excited to share what will be happening in Braemar, and at the Fife Arms hotel.
Royal Deeside has a rich and longstanding connection with the Royal family, stemming from the 1850s when Queen Victoria and Prince Albert built Balmoral Castle as a family home, just 9 miles from Braemar. A home that is still to this day the official Scottish Residence for the Royal family. HM, the Queen is the Royal Patron of the Braemar Gathering and attends every year with members of the family.
A Community Poem
We are delighted to have commissioned Scottish poet, Gillian Shearer to create a commemorative poem for the Jubilee celebrations with the Braemar community. Everyone has been invited to send in a sentence of up to 10 words on a number of topics relating to the Queen which will then be turned into a poem that we will share over the Jubilee Weekend.
Jubilee Events / Local Events Programme
From Monday 30th May – to Monday 6th June, the Fife Arms will offer a special Jubilee Afternoon Tea, inspired by some of HM Queen Elizabeth’s favourite flavours.
